The right material for your custom-made furniture

SOLID WOOD

With solid wood you have the choice between solid wood and glued wood. While solid wood is a single piece of a tree, glued wood is glued together from many individual wooden slats. The latter has two advantages: On the one hand, the sizes and shapes can be chosen flexibly, on the other hand, glued wood does not warp with temperature differences. In principle, most solid wood furniture is of course not only made of a single piece of wood, as this is simply possible only in the rarest of cases. Solid wood furniture has the advantage that it is extremely durable and can be sanded and oiled in case of scratches or blemishes. The appearance can also be adjusted on request by wood stains or stain, if the decor is to get a different look.

WOOD PANELS

Wood panels are pressed from dried wood chips that would otherwise end up in the garbage. They are therefore particularly environmentally friendly and also have the advantage that they are dimensionally stable and there are no limits to the selection in terms of sizes and shapes. In addition, they are very inexpensive and can carry heavy loads, although they themselves have relatively little weight. The disadvantage, however, is that they are less durable and can easily splinter when screwed. The decision between solid wood and wood-based materials therefore depends very much on the intended use. While we usually prefer to use wood panels for worktops and doors, for example, we prefer to use more resistant solid wood for table tops.

Unless you explicitly request otherwise, the wood we use for your custom-made furniture comes mainly from Luxembourg. In order to protect the environment as much as possible, we make sure to process wood in all work that in most cases comes from sustainable forestry.
